Grade Three Genesis, Hebrew Legends and Measurement

There’s no doubt that the Hebrew Legends meet the developmental stage of the third grader just perfectly. As I taught this block, I came to this realization more and more every day.

But these stories provided more than the “soul food” for the developing nine-year-old soul, they gave us a rich, fertile ground for practicing skills, developing daily routines and learning new concepts.

Though in many ways this was a math block, as I taught, I realized how inter-disciplinary the third grade curriculum can be.
